Sarasota Courthouse Elopement | Alex + Alex
Her name is Alex and his full name is Alexander but they both go by Alex, so they are the Alexs!! Alex and Alex’s intimate Sarasota elopement was all about celebrating love in a meaningful, personal way. With just their parents by their side, they chose the Sarasota Courthouse as their wedding location — a gorgeous backdrop for an unforgettable day. From getting ready together at the chic Sarasota Modern Hotel to capturing portraits before the ceremony, their day was filled with joy, style, and thoughtful details. Alex’s glam team was makeup by Kelsea J and hair by Styled Pretty by Tina Marie.
Getting Ready Together: How to Make It Work
One of the most unique parts of Alex + Alex’s day was that they got ready together in the same suite. This approach can feel unconventional, but it made their morning feel intimate and relaxed. Here’s why it works:
Sharing the morning removes the pre-ceremony nerves and allows natural, joyful moments to unfold.
It’s perfect for couples who want photos of the “getting ready” experience without the rush or separation.
Make it fun! Alex chose a playful, short dress that perfectly reflected her personality and kept the morning light and bright.
Choosing the Perfect Hotel for Pre-Ceremony Photos
The Sarasota Modern was the ideal backdrop for their pre-ceremony portraits. They wanted a modern, organic feel with lots of great places for photos. From the claw foot tub on the balcony of their suite, to the rooftop, pool deck, and cool wallpaper and greenery in the lobby it was totally a vibe! When selecting a hotel or getting-ready location for your elopement:
Look for spaces that reflect your style and vibe. Modern, airy suites give a clean, timeless look for photos.
Consider the lighting and spaces. Wide windows and open layouts make for effortless portrait opportunities.
Don’t be afraid to add playful touches! Alex had champagne, cigars, and sunglasses that were perfect for the claw foot tub. A short, fun dress or styled details pop beautifully against a chic interior.

Why the Sarasota Courthouse is Perfect for Elopements and Intimate Weddings
The Sarasota Courthouse offers more than just legal convenience — it’s an elegant and historic setting that makes a courthouse wedding feel special: It was built in 1926 in the Spanish/Mediterranean Revival Style. They have gorgeous indoor courtroom spaces blue and terra cotta tile, huge chandaliers and great window light as well as the courtyard where they even do outdoor ceremonies. The Alexs opted for indoor since, well, Florida in September is pretty steamy but we used the outside facade for photos.
Stunning architecture and grand interiors make for gorgeous photos without needing extra decor.
Its central location in Sarasota is easy for family and small wedding parties to access.
It’s ideal for couples seeking an intimate, meaningful elopement with a touch of formality.
