When over 1,200 people gather in one room with a single mission — to change the lives of Tampa's most vulnerable children — you feel it. The energy, the purpose, the hope in the room is almost tangible. That was the Metro Min Bridge Builders 2026 luncheon at the JW Marriott Tampa, and it was an absolute privilege to be behind the lens for every moment of it this year and all the years I’ve had the privilege of capturing it.
A Landmark Tampa Fundraising Event
The Metro Ministries Bridge Builders luncheon is one of Tampa Bay's most anticipated annual fundraising events, and the 2026 gathering did not disappoint. Themed Collective Leadership. Lasting Impact., this year's event brought together community leaders, business executives, law enforcement, local nonprofits, and passionate supporters from across the Tampa Bay area — all united in their commitment to Metro Ministries and the children and families they serve.
From the stunning ballroom setup at the JW Marriott Tampa to the deeply moving program, every detail of this event reflected the heart and excellence of the Metro Ministries team.
The CREATE Art Walk — Where Community Became Art
Before guests even stepped into the ballroom, they were welcomed into one of the most moving pre-function experiences I have ever photographed. The CREATE Art Walk exhibit, created entirely by children and teens in the CREATE program at Metro Ministries, filled the pre-function space with color, creativity, and incredible heart.
The centerpiece of the exhibit was a breathtaking nature-inspired tree installation — a lush, cascading structure draped in green moss and adorned with Polaroid portraits of the children in the program, each one labeled with their name and a dream for their future. Butterflies, painted rocks with words like "passion," "faith," and "never give up," and a stunning Sea of Hope sculpture rounded out an exhibit that stopped guests in their tracks and set a deeply meaningful tone for the afternoon.
Photographing children's artwork always carries a special kind of weight, and this exhibit was no exception.
Mayor Jane Castor and Community Leadership
The program featured remarks from Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, whose presence underscored just how significant Metro Ministries is to the fabric of Tampa Bay. The room was packed with familiar faces from across Tampa's civic, business, and philanthropic communities — including members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department, who showed up in full force to show their support.
The energy in that ballroom when the program began was something special. Over 1,200 people leaning in, listening, and ready to give — that is what Tampa's community looks like at its best.
Keynote Speaker: John C. Maxwell on Collective Leadership
The afternoon's keynote was delivered by none other than leadership expert and bestselling author John C. Maxwell, whose message on collective leadership and lasting impact left the room inspired and energized. Watching a room of 1,200 people hang on every word is a powerful thing to witness — and even more powerful to capture.
The book signing session that followed drew a long and joyful line of attendees eager for a moment with Maxwell — from community leaders and business professionals to the children of Metro Ministries themselves, who were clearly the stars of the entire event.
