Angel + Dirrell’s Modern Tampa Wedding at the Tampa Museum of Art
Angel and her family are dear friends of mine, so this wedding was extra special. I had the honor of photographing her sister Ashley and brother-in-law Derrick’s wedding in 2021, and now it was Angel’s turn to say “I do” to her perfect match, Dirrell, at the Tampa Museum of Art.
Her whole vision began with three art pieces she had hanging in her home. Jana from Events in Bloom took those colors and created stunning floral designs that wove the entire palette together. The Tampa Museum’s current art collection happened to be in the same color scheme—it felt meant to be!!!
Angel got ready at her home with her mom and sisters. Last time I was there, her mom Dina was in the middle of a bathroom renovation. This time, the primary bath was complete—and absolutely gorgeous! The blue cabinets perfectly matched her wedding colors, so we photographed all her details and bridal prep in that space.
She shared a sweet first look with her dad and uncle Dino before we gathered her whole family for a surprise “group first look.” Their reactions were priceless—and yes, her sweet pup Maverick made an appearance too. Dina made sure the landscaping was perfection for the family photos outside, how amazing do those colors look against that beautiful outdoor setting? Even the exterior of the house coordinated with the light blue:-)
I had heard so much about Dirrell but hadn’t met him until the wedding day. He’s the kindest, most genuine guy—and the way he looks at Angel says everything. Linda photographed him and his groomsmen at the museum, where they looked sharp in classic black tuxes. His boutonniere was one of my favorite details—a “pocket full of flowers” instead of the traditional pinned style, perfectly paired with Angel’s bouqet.
Since Angel works in the wedding industry with Gabro Event Services, she knew an indoor ceremony was a must for the end of June in Florida. The space at the museum was breathtaking—floor-to-ceiling windows draped in white fabric, pops of colorful florals, and artwork that felt like it was curated just for them.
Angel’s brother Joey officiated, and the elevated stage gave every guest the perfect view as they became Mr. and Mrs. Ross!
The Tampa Museum of Art is a dream for a modern Tampa wedding—the sleek architecture, sweeping staircases, and reflective metal walls create incredible backdrops for portraits. I love using the aesthetic of the space with the portraits and candid moments with the couple. These first few are right after the ceremony are just after Angel and Dirrell exited the ceremony and their first few official moments as Mr. & Mrs!
For the reception, dinner was set on one side and dancing on the other, centered by a chic black-and-white checkered dance floor. One of my favorite moments of the evening was Angel’s sister Jackie’s toast, where she shared how much Dirrell loves her sister—and even includes her in their dinners and everyday life. The love in the room was undeniable.
Working with Coastal Coordinating is always a joy, and Katy and her team were flawless. From bustling Angel’s gown to running family photos with lightning speed, they made the day flow perfectly!!!
