A Safety Harbor Resort Wedding Full of Family, Laughter & Love | Renee + John

Bride and groom portraits at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, Tampa Bay wedding photography by Carrie Wildes

Some weddings are beautiful. Some are joyful. And every once in a while, you get one that is so deeply, unmistakably them — so rooted in who this family is — that you leave feeling like you've witnessed something truly special. Renee and John's wedding at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa was exactly that kind of day.

From the moment Renee slipped into her mother's wedding dress to the moment the dance floor erupted into a full-on party, this wedding carried a warmth and authenticity that I will not forget anytime soon. And their little boy, Tobias — dressed in the most dapper sage green suit — absolutely stole the show every single chance he got.

Getting Ready at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa

The morning started in the gorgeous resort rooms of the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, where Renee and her girls were getting ready on one side of the resort while John and his crew were finishing up on the other.

On the bride's side, something magical was happening. Renee wasn't just putting on any wedding dress. She was putting on her mom, Elisa’s dress — a stunning, one-of-a-kind tea-length gown with the most beautiful lace bodice and an elegant bow detail at the back. It was unique, it was romantic, and it was so completely Renee. Watching her mom help her fasten that dress while tears streamed quietly down her cheeks — captured in black and white, with soft window light — was one of those moments that photography was made for.

On the groom's side, John's laughter filled the room. There is something irresistible about a groom who cannot stop smiling, and John was all smiles from the moment he put on that striking forest green suit. His best man helped get his vest just right, and then the two of them were hamming it up for the camera alongside the rest of the guys — including little Tobias, who was already full of energy and absolutely in love with being the center of attention.

The details told the whole story of Renee's personal style: white Converse sneakers alongside elegant white heels (the best of both worlds), peach and ivory roses, delicate gold jewelry, a lace garter, and a perfume bottle that caught the light just right. And that dress, hanging in the window — backlit and breathtaking.

The Father-Daughter First Look

Before the ceremony, Renee surprised her dad, Todd, with a private first look — and I am so glad we made time for it.

He turned around slowly, took one look at his daughter, and completely fell apart in the best way. They held hands. They looked at each other. And then they just held on, in a hug that said everything words couldn't.

If you are a bride and you are on the fence about a first look with your dad — this is your sign to do it.

The Ceremony: Tranquility Fountain at Safety Harbor Resort

The outdoor ceremony took place beside the beautiful tranquility fountain on the resort grounds, surrounded by lush tropical landscaping, swaying palms, and white garden chairs adorned with eucalyptus and peach florals. The floral arch — bursting with peach roses, white blooms, and greenery by Eve's Florist Oldsmar — framed the moment perfectly.

John stood at the altar watching the doors, and the moment Renee appeared, his whole face changed. That grin. That look. He could not believe how stunning she was.

Tobias walked the aisle like a pro in his coordinating sage green vest and pants, waving his bubble wand with tremendous enthusiasm — because of course he did. The flower girls were equally adorable, and the whole procession had guests laughing, clapping, and reaching for tissues all at once.

The ceremony itself was intimate and personal, with just their closest friends and family present. These weren't rows of strangers — this was their people, and you could feel it in every photo.

Portrait Session on the Resort Grounds

After the ceremony, we had all the best photo spots right there so we didn’t have to go anywhere! The Tranquility Garden is absolutely stunning for photography — manicured gardens, winding brick paths, a tiled fountain, jasmine-covered hedges, and palm trees everywhere you look.

Renee and John were naturals in front of the camera — laughing, sneaking close, stealing a quiet moment here and there. And then Tobias came running.

There is a photo of John chasing Tobias down the garden path, both of them completely dissolved in laughter, John in his forest green suit and Tobias in his tiny matching ensemble, just running — pure joy. And another of Renee crouching down with Tobias in her arms, bouquet in hand, her whole face lit up. These are the photos that matter most. The ones that say: this is our family, and we are so happy.

Flowers by Eve's Florist Oldsmar — the bridal bouquet was a loose, lush mix of peach garden roses, white lilies, eucalyptus, and baby's breath, and it photographed beautifully in every light.

The Reception: Elegance Inside Safety Harbor Resort

The reception ballroom at Safety Harbor Resort was transformed into something truly elegant — white linens, chair sashes tied in soft bows, crystal chandeliers casting warm light across every table, and peach floral centerpieces on mirrored bases at every turn.

The wedding cake from Caramel's Bakery was a stunning semi-naked multi-tiered design with gold leaf accents and a custom "Mr. & Mrs. Jackson" gold topper — displayed on a wood slice surrounded by fresh blooms and candlelight. Simple, chic, and absolutely gorgeous.

When Renee and John were introduced into the reception, the room absolutely erupted. Guests were on their feet, cheering, clapping — and then came the first dance. GHA Mobile DJs set the perfect tone all night long, and the moment John dipped Renee dramatically on the dance floor — with the whole room watching and gasping — was pure, show-stopping joy that you simply cannot choreograph.

Their first dance, quieter and more intimate, came next — the two of them turning slowly together in that warm ballroom light while the whole room held its breath.

Both Renee’s dad with her dad and John’s dance with his mom were so sweet and emotional. Renee's dad gave a toast that had the room laughing and dabbing their eyes in equal measure, and then it was time to party. And party they did. The dance floor did not empty. Not even close.

To Renee and John

You two built something really beautiful — not just on your wedding day, but in the family you've already created. Tobias is proof of how much love is at the center of your life together, and watching all three of you navigate this day as a team was one of the greatest joys.

I cannot wait to see where life takes the Jackson family. Congratulations, you two. 🤍
