Hyde Park Tampa Family Portraits | The Woodard Family

Family of four sitting on the fountain edge at Hyde Park Village Tampa during a family portrait session

I have a soft spot for the families who let me grow with them.

Back in 2017, I photographed Laura and Steven's wedding — and now here we are, years later, chasing their twin boys through Hyde Park Village on a gorgeous Tampa afternoon. If that doesn't make you feel something, I don't know what will.

From "I Do" to These Two

There is something so special about documenting a family across different seasons of life. When Laura and Steven first stood in front of my camera, they were newlyweds with their whole story ahead of them. Now that story includes two little guys who are absolutely full of personality — the kind of kids who make you laugh out loud during a session and also make you work for every single coordinated moment (in the best possible way).

That's real life. And real life is worth photographing.

Photograph the Stage You're In — Even the Messy Parts

I talk to so many parents who put off family portraits because things feel a little too hectic, a little too loud, a little too much right now. The kids won't cooperate. Someone's going through a phase. You haven't lost the baby weight. The house isn't clean. Life isn't Pinterest-perfect.

Here's the thing: this stage — right now — is the one you'll want back someday.

The wrestling and the giggling. The one kid who's hamming it up for the camera while the other one is already plotting his escape. The way they look at each other like they're the best friends they'll ever have (and also the most annoying person they've ever met). That is the stuff of the best family portraits. Don't wait until things calm down — because the chaos is the story.

Laura and Steven, you are raising two ridiculously handsome, hilarious, full-of-life little boys. I hope these photos remind you of exactly who they were at this age, because it goes fast.

Why Hyde Park Village Is One of My Favorite Spots for Tampa Family Portraits

Hyde Park Village is genuinely one of the best locations in Tampa for family portrait sessions — and the Woodard family was the perfect reminder of why.

Within just a short walk, we had the iconic ornate fountain (hello, backdrop dreams), the colorful "Dreams Really Do Come True" rainbow mural that the boys were absolutely drawn to, and a second fountain area with a completely different look and feel. Three distinct settings, zero driving between them, and — critically — we could move quickly to keep two energetic boys engaged and happy.

That variety is everything when you're working with little ones. Keeping the energy up and the locations fresh means more genuine moments and fewer meltdowns. Win-win.

Laura's sage green lace dress was stunning against the warm tones of the fountain and the lush Hyde Park greenery. The boys in their coordinating blues and mint with khaki shorts was the perfect mix of put-together and still totally boy. And Steven's classic white polo brought it all together without competing. This family nailed their outfit coordination in a way that felt effortless — and it shows in every single frame.

Tampa Family Portraits That Grow With You

If you're a past client reading this — hi, I love you, let's do this again. And if you're a new face here: this is what I do. I don't just show up, snap some posed shots, and call it a day. I get to know your family, I meet your kids where they are, and I create images that actually look like you — not a stock photo version of your family.

Hyde Park Village, Cypress Point Park, Bayshore Boulevard, Armature Works — Tampa has no shortage of beautiful backdrops. But the best portraits aren't about the location. They're about capturing the real, imperfect, wonderful stage of life you're actually living right now.

Are you ready to stop waiting for the "right time" and just book the session?

I'd love to document your family exactly as you are — chaotic, loving, hilarious, and everything in between. Hyde Park Tampa family portrait sessions book quickly, especially in the fall and early spring when the weather in Florida is absolute perfection.

Carrie Wildes Photography serves Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the greater Tampa Bay area for family portraits, maternity sessions, and milestone photography. Whether you're looking for Hyde Park Tampa family portraits, waterfront sessions along Bayshore, or a relaxed neighborhood session close to home, I'd love to be your photographer. 📸
